Oregon, 1933 - the time of the great depression. Marvin is the experienced old hobo and Carradine the green young one each intent to prove that they are 'Emperor of the North' by successfully bumming a lift on a fascist guard (Borgnine)'s train. A fascinating duel of wits ensues.
