Connery stars as the liberal academic lawyer rooting around in the Deep South trying to establish if a young black on death row was framed by the locals or not. Superb performances from Fishburne (cop) and Ed Harris (psycho) enhance a good thriller only let down by a cliched slash/stalk ending.
