Jennifer Beals was plucked from obscurity to star in this early 80s Cinderella-style tale in which she plays an impossibly gorgeous 18-year-old welder who works as a go-go dancer by night, but secretly dreams of being a famous ballerina. In between all this she does a lot of romping around with her big slobbery dog, avoids the attentions of her handsome, rich, devoted boss and rides her bicycle frantically around Pittsburgh. Beals looks engaging enough, but it's all highly improbable and there's just far too much going on for a movie which is basically just trying to rip off Saturday Night Fever.
