Soft-focus vision of Lillian Hellman's autobiographical tale of love and friendship. Redgrave is convincingly noble as the militant anti-Fascist, while Fonda squares up nicely as Julia's lifelong friend. Pretty enough, but the obvious homosexual content is coyly swept aside.
