Part of a string of xenophobic cold war thrillers which became a massively popular genre during the 1980s. Three American students, enjoying their democratic right to get drunk in Finland, decide to make a daring foray into Russkie territory, only to be busted. What follows is a violent drama involving torture, including a human chess match, shoot-outs, a token love interest and various escape attempts. The Finnish backdrop is pretty though, and the snarling Russians have never looked so barbaric, or hairy.
