Neil Jordan's tale of a 10 year old cheeky chappie in a small Irish town whose father is the town drunk and whose mother is bound for the nuthouse. His pranks and torment of the locals, especially the stuck-up Mrs Nugent, go from the unacceptable to the downright plain nasty resulting in his incarceration and the loss of his best friend. His own loss of grip on reality finally explodes in a horrific conclusion. Slightly surreal, bold and very dangerous film from one of the finest directors working today.
