Loosely adapted from Thomas Hardy's novel, this is a gentle tale of romance in a late 19th century rural corner of South England. The plot revolves around Grace, who, after returning from boarding school, considers herself above her childhood sweetheart Giles and sets her sights on marrying a handsome young doctor. She soon realises, however, that he's not the man of her dreams.
