The citizens' memories are reprogrammed, and their surroundings altered, with everyone waking up in a state of dazed confusion. Everyone that is, except John Murdoch, (Rufus Sewell) who is somehow immune to the induced collective trance, and who knows that the murder rap he is suddenly, supposedly, facing is a nonsense.
