Richard E Grant is perfectly cast as the Scarlet Pimpernel in this lavish swashbuckling adventure set during the French Revolution. Our aristocratic hero must fool the wicked Mademoiselle Guillotine in order to save his wife from her clutches. In the meantime, Chauvelin (Martin Shaw) is sent to overthrow a rebellion but quickly discovers he is in trouble and his men are outnumbered. Wonderful costumes and some good performances. Also included on the tape is a behind-the-scenes documentary.
