Thoughtful drama with Renee Zellweger as Sonia, a discontented Hasidic New York housewife who longs to break free from the confines of her Orthodox Jewish community. Possessed of a feisty, rebellious spirit, the sexually stifled mum is besotted with a Puerto Rican sculptor, while her sharp mind yearns for some gainful employment. Slow-moving but ultimately uplifting, with excellent performances.
