Scriptwriter Richard Curtis and Hugh Grant team up once again to make a romantic comedy about a floppy haired English gent who falls in love with an American. Sound familiar? While it isn't a sequel to 'Four Weddings and a Funeral' it is the same formula repackaged. Julia Roberts stretches her acting ability not a jot by playing a top Hollywood actress, who spends her spare time browsing in travel bookshops. Hugh bumps into her and stumbles over his words, bumbles around in that annoyingly typecast way of his and she is smitten! As an unlikely romance struggles to get going the press have a field day, but it's the unhygenic and randy housemate Spike (Rhys Ifans) who gets to steal all the scenes in this delightful comedy that charms rather than smarms.
