Mark Wahlberg ("Boogie Nights") plays Mel, a crack hitman with an incongruous desire to be liked by everyone. This could prove tricky, as the parents of his Jewish princess fiancee blatantly despise him, his mistress is about to take him to the cleaners, his partner-in-crime has betrayed him, and the local video store's giving him grief. Plus there's the Chinese schoolgirl he's kidnapped for ransom who, unsurprisingly, isn't too keen on him either. And so ensues a rather frenzied plot, some ridiculously over-the-top action scenes, and a large dollop of black humour.
