Quirky Canadian apocalypse tale, from actor/writer/director Don McKellar. Dispensing with the usual special FX, high-octane explosions and square-jawed action hero, this low-budget gem instead concentrates on a group of characters who, for six months, have been waiting for an unspecified catastrophe. With only hours to go, the principal characters play out the end of their world with typically human, self-obsessed angst, against a backdrop of half-baked social unrest. And it all rings worryingly true.
