A Gallic melodrama starring newcomer Alexis Loret as Martin, brought up alone by his mother till the age of ten, then sent to live with his wealthy, tyrannical father's family. Troubled, and in trouble, at twenty, the dishevelled young man turns up on the doorstep of his gay half-brother Benjamin and his violinist flatmate Alice (Juliette Binoche) and promptly settles into their bohemian household, staying silent about the chain of events that led him to them.
