The film follows a group of high school students growing up in southern California and is supposedly based on the real-life adventures of Cameron Crowe. They hang out in malls, listen to rock'n'roll and hunt for sex like any normal teen slackers. The centre of the film is held by Jeff Spicoli, a perpetually stoned surfer dude, who faces off with the resolute Mr Hand, a man convinced that everyone is on dope. A superior teen comedy about a bunch of kids facing the hassles of growing up dealing with increasing independence, the opposite sex, money etc.
