Set during the Second World War, an American submarine is ordered on a top secret mission to capture an encrypting machine from a Nazi U-boat, but just as success is in sight everything goes horribly wrong and what's left of the crew find themselves in a desperate fight for survival in an unfamiliar boat against a vengeful enemy......Hang on wasn't that a British boat that captured the enigma machine? Gee, I guess the Americans won the war, so it seems only logical that they should rewrite history too. Reluctantly putting that gripe aside U-571 is a highly entertaining action adventure, tense, gripping and well acted.
