Betty is a small town girl, married to a complete git and longing to runaway with her true love, Doctor Ravell, the handsome lead in a TV soap. Betty is very sweet, but the screws are already pretty loose, and when she witnesses her husbands brutal murder she becomes completely unhinged, and sets off to L.A. in search of the good doctor, now convinced she is his long lost love. Unfortunately for Betty, the men responsible for her husbands death are convinced she needs to join her betrothed. Nurse Betty is a highly enjoyable and original American movie, managing to seemlessly blend black comedy, thriller, and road movie with moments of genuine pathos, perfectly pitched and studded with quirky characters which actually have character.
