After the success of the Hollywood film the excellence of the original television series should be noted. Instead of focusing on the border between the US and Mexico, this sets the scenes in the poppy fields of Pakistan, the corruption of wealthy Hamburg, all the way to the power elite and the needle-full slums of London. Fascinating and moving, this compelling drama shows us again that Channel 4 does come through.
