If you rent this film without any preconceptions then you just might enjoy it. Four public school teens, desperate to skive their geography fieldtrip, decide to hide from the school and their parents. Thora Birch leads this cast of unknowns through this twisty and unnerving tale of obsessive love and disturbing motives. The concept is an original one which makes for an exciting watch but it is certainly not without its flaws, the atrocious English accents being perhaps the most offensive. As Liz (Birch) tells her account of exactly what happened when they were in 'the hole' and exactly why they went there, the lines become more blurred as to who was responsible and what really happened down there. If you get to the beginning of the film you'll be hooked but the pay off doesn't live up to the creepy and twisted set-up. it could be worse...but it could definitely be better.
