It's late 21st century and earth has been over run by malignant spirits; after a vision Aki Ross and an elite squadron set out on a mission to save the world by releasing 'the final fantasy'. Final Fantasy has a god-awful script and an incoherent plot, but there's no denying the amazing computer generated visuals and that, I suspect, is going to be most people's incentive for watching it.
