What if man could create true AI? Would it use human qualities to rebel against its maker? Re-treading old ground, Ex_Machina looks at the moral and ethical questions behind 'creating' and 'killing' not quite organic organisms. The gender and 'god complex' stuff is pretty basic but it fares well enough as popcorn fodder. Performances from Gleeson and Isaacs are good and for those who like their robots realistic, Vikander's none too shabby. There's also a stylish dance sequence.
