One of the best suspense thrillers ever made - often imitated and rarely bettered. It's of the intrepid city adventurers up against in-bred redneck natives mould and the rednecks have the natural advantage, being both horribly cruel and at home in the woods. For anyone who enjoyed "Southern Comfort". find out more...

Herzog's epic movie about a man's obsessive attempt to bring opera to the Indians living deep in the Peruvian jungle. To do this he must take a steamship/tub way up the Amazon river system, a monumental task, at one point involving transporting it over a not unconsiderable hill, with the help of a system of pulleys and massed Indian labour. A surreal comment on madness, power and vision. There is also a documentary, Burden of Dreams, about the notoriously fraught making of the film. find out more...

Deep in the Louisiana Bayou something big and scaley lurks........and its hungry! A mix of hokey locals, buff scientists and too-rich-to-think-straight hunters face off against genetically engineered fish that are just as efficient at dispatching humans on the land as they are in the water. With some flaky CGI and a noticeable lack of tension in some of the action sequences, Frankenfish is still more fun than it should be and represents an above average addition to the creature-feature genre. find out more...

George is back, and this time he finds himself in Las Vegas attempting to save his marriage, retrieve his son and save his jungle kingdom from the dastardly plans of his mother-in-law and his good woman's ex-fiancee. A sequel that crashes into things more than it's fumbling hero, but the wee ones will still enjoy the slap stick. find out more...

A very honest biopic, telling the story of Dian Fossey, the woman who gave her life to study and protect the African mountain gorillas. Sigourney Weaver narrowly missed an Oscar for her superb portrayal of this brave and determined, if at times unlikeable, woman and the dangerous tactics that killed her. All that's missing is a face-off between Fossey and Jane Goodall as they do battle, tactically using their respective primate armies to ensure their bloody victory as Queen of the Jungle. Hamstrung by the fact that, mercifully, Nazi Germany didn't last very long and that Indie's been flashing his OAP bus pass around for at least a couple of years, Spielberg has shuffled us along to 1957 and to the height of Soviet/American antipathy… so, new baddies sorted, now to find a cool treasure… mmmmm, what about the ‘legendary' (made up) Crystal Skull of Akator? Ohh... and a young precocious guy tagging along to do the full on action bits that CGI just can't cover - result. The first thre find out more...
