It's sick, it's weird, it's spooky, but it's compulsive viewing. Forget Brat Packs and Rambo, this is the dark side to America. Beneath the squeaky clean surface lurk neuroses and perversions, degradation and despair. Brilliantly done, this film will haunt you. find out more...

Grace is on the run, and in the small backwater town of Dogville it would seem she has found some safety. FESTEN (1998)

A family reunion is the setting for this dark and inventive film from Denmark. When the eldest son gives a speech for his father, Helge's sixtieth birthday, Helge and the guests are taken aback by what they hear. There's also a missing daughter and a party of revellers keen to pretend the speech never happened! The fantastic cinematography from Lars von Triers as well as the richly textured plot makes this a unique film. Highly recommended. find out more...

Timothy Treadwell was quite a guy, a self appointed crusader and protector for the grizzly bears of Alaska, his commitment over thirteen summers was without doubt, though his motives and methods were perhaps more confused. What Herzog has created from Treadwell's copious footage is a stunning wildlife documentary in which the observer is as fascinating as his beloved subjects; in fact Treadwell is a perfect real life example of the damaged, obsessive characters in a number of Herzog's films, and find out more...

Critically maligned on its release, this tale of a twisted lens-man who lures unsuspecting female victims to their grisly death is an interesting study in the voyeuristic implications of cinema. The killer is an eternal victim whose crimes are cries of rage against his father and stepmother and, at the same time, pathetic rehearsals for his own inevitable death. A Freudian script of notable maturity teases limitless implications from this premise, while maintaining a healthy sense of humour. find out more...

A disenchanted Vietnam vet becomes a New York taxi driver and lets the violence and squalor around him explode in his mind. One of the most atmospheric films ever made about urban alienation. South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker offend everyone from the neo-conservative Bush administration to the Hollywood liberal mouthpieces as they set about defending the world from villains, despots and anyone else who offends their gung-ho sensibilities. So it's goodbye to the reds, the mullahs and the bleeding heart liberals – bye-bye Paris, bye-bye the Pyramids, and bye-bye WMD toting Arabs. Team America is a work of utterly over the top genius, crass, tacky, neon-lit, pom-pom-waving find out more...
