Review
A deeply disturbing drama in which preppie Hart is incarcerated in a German prisoner-of-war camp in the bleak winter of 1944/45. The war is almost over, except for professional soldier McNamara, but the arrival of 2 captured black officers stirs the racist pot, and the murder of one POW by another leads to a black man facing a blatantly racist court, a sort of legal lynching. While the plot has a few holes in it, the parallels between the prisoners and their brutal fascist captors reveal they have far more in common then WW2 movies normally portray. Thought provoking jingoism.
