Director Alex de la Iglesia's look back to Spanish filmmaking of old centres on Carlos, a young boy on a mission to find the grandfather denied him by his mother. Our hero, repeating his role as the villainous London wide boy Chev, stomps his way round LA looking for the dastardly sod who has nicked his heart and replaced it with a battery run pump that needs regular high-level external electric boosts to keep functioning. Deadpool is not a superhero, he's a guy with a grudge who just so happens to have super accelerated healing powers. Experiment gone wrong kind of thing. Consequently he's crass, crude and often downright offensive. He breaks the fourth wall and doesn't just cross the line - no, this is a character who vomits all over it. With relish. Too sexist for my liking, but apparently it's a hit with teenage boys.

A far cry from the perfect movie, Kingsman is at least a pleasant surprise. When Colin Firth heads to the council estate to recruit a young lad for a top secret military project it looks like class war is on the agenda. But, with occasional and somewhat shocking violent outbursts as well as pithy scripting at every turn, Kingsman: The Secret Service is an enjoyable romp. Popcorn entertainment of the highest order, this film puts the Bond franchise to shame.
