Director Alex de la Iglesia's look back to Spanish filmmaking of old centres on Carlos, a young boy on a mission to find the grandfather denied him by his mother. The grandfather, Julian (Sancho Gracia), who was once a stuntman on spaghetti westerns, is now reduced to doing stunt shows for tourists with his old buddies on the same decaying sets. Deadpool is not a superhero, he's a guy with a grudge who just so happens to have super accelerated healing powers. Experiment gone wrong kind of thing. Consequently he's crass, crude and often downright offensive. He breaks the fourth wall and doesn't just cross the line - no, this is a character who vomits all over it. With relish. Too sexist for my liking, but apparently it's a hit with teenage boys.

When Colin Firth heads to the council estate to recruit a young lad for a top secret military project it looks like class war is on the agenda. But, with occasional and somewhat shocking violent outbursts as well as pithy scripting at every turn, Kingsman: The Secret Service is an enjoyable romp. Popcorn entertainment of the highest order, this film puts the Bond franchise to shame.
