In 480 BC, Athenian General Themistocles leads the Greek Army in a war against the invasion of King Xerxes I, naval commander Artemisia and their Persian forces. Themistocles allies with the Spartans but they are still outnumbered by Xerxes' men. Who will be victorious? Well, you could get out a history book, but if you’d prefer the comically violent film version of events courtesy of Frank Miller’s graphic novel, then this is the puppy for you.
find out more...Hollywood gives Noah's Ark another seeing to and chucks in a bit of Tolkienesque monster whimsy, just in case a wrathful god, his devoted servant and a lot of water doesn't quite hold you for the 2 plus hours running time. Some great and suitably epic special effects don't really save this from being a humourless, poorly scripted and weirdly cast trudge.
