A wonderfully adapted film based round the exploits of Cicero, aka Elyesa Bazna, the Albanian born valet (Mason at his best) of the British ambassador to Turkey, who sold secrets to the Germans during 1944. The valet's gentlemanly pretensions are put to the test in this tale of espionage and romantic intrigue. Ace.

Kline and Judd combine well in this delightful homage to the life and times of Cole and Linda Porter, man and wife, composer and muse, a couple who led a life of glamour and indulged eccentricity. There's no shortage of the man's music, which is unfortunately sometimes murdered by using a series of unsuitable singers; "It's De-Lovely" by Robbie Williams, "Let's Do It (Let's Fall In Love)" by Alanis Morissette, "Begin The Beguine" by Sheryl Crow, "Let's Misbehave" by Elvis Costello, "Be a Clown" find out more...

A visually stunning and passionate potted history of one of the greatest artists of the 20th Century, the Mexican, Frida Kahlo. This film deals primarily with Frida's private life, the enduring relationship with her husband and fellow artist, Diego Rivera, and her many scandalising affairs. Frida is a dramatic and affectionate portrait of a remarkable woman. find out more...

A high octane action - and not far from historically accurate - pic glorifying the role of Norwegian Resistance fighter Max Manus in his battle against the evil Nazi empire. We follow our likeable hero from the 1940 winter war against the Soviets in Finland through to the 1945 defeat of the Bosch. We observe his guilt at his own survival while his mates are killed in the struggle and, we learn of his own high risk manoeuvres - the mining of two German ships being a classic set piece. find out more...

Not so much a film about Dylan Thomas and more about the two major female influences in his adult life; his wife Caitlan, his now married childhood sweet heart, Vera, and the unconventional almost beatnik ménage a trios that they created for themselves. Playing out during the height of WWII 'The Edge of Love' is a beautifully rendered film but there is little depth to the characters, in particular the two central protagonists, a fault as much of the actors as it is of the script. Ultimately this find out more...
