When shy dork Lars overcomes his problems by adopting a life-size doll as his girlfriend, the event is treated seriously, rather than derisively, in this distinctly odd small town American community. It's the off-season at the lonely Beauregard Hotel in Bournemoth, and only the long-term tenants are still in residence.
