Revered, misunderstood and oft-discussed, Stephen Weeks' rarely seen 1974 dreamlike chiller is the absolute definition of a cult British Horror film. Set in 1920 s England it tells of three former public schoolmates, Larry Dann (The Bill), Murray Melvin (The Devils) and the enigmatic Vivian Mackerell (the inspiration for Bruce Robinson' s creation 'Withnail', seen here in his only major screen role), who reunite in a country mansion haunted by the spirit of insane former resident Marianne Fai find out more...

Local rumours point to an army experiment gone awry at a nearby top-secret base, but as the locals break off into increasingly murderous factions the ravenous monsters are in danger of taking a back seat to the carnage. Mist is a superior adaptation of a Stephen King horror thanks in large part to find out more...

Charlton Heston is the only (normal) survivor of an apocalyptic plague that has destroyed mankind. A band of mutants calling themselves the 'Family' believe science and technology to be the cause of the plague. Neville (Heston), as the last symbol of the old world of science, is seen as a threat to the new order. For the mutants, the only way to insure their domination of the planet is to rid themselves of their distructive ancestor. Superb! find out more...

"Josephine Decker has created a new style of thriller that employs allegory, incorporates touches of David Lynch as well as Magritte -esque imagery. Decker's setting of a remote farm feels like a metaphor for what turns out to be hell. The raw and emotional (and yes, sometimes funny) dialog tells a story that can seem familiar at points but really is meant to keep you guessing and off balance. I really enjoyed how the undertones of this film came to life through her very deft contrast of the find out more...

TUSK (2014)

Kevin Smith had a podcast where they made a joke about the idea of kidnapping and turning a human into a walrus. It went viral on the twittersphere. Then it became a movie. This movie. Though the whole thing starts out well, with decent doses of good humour and dramatic tension, it all falls very quickly by the wayside. The result is a ridiculous prosthetic walrus suit that envelops Justin Long. Somewhere inside this mess of a movie there's a punchline, if only Smith could get to it without q find out more...
