Eight year old Amine and his teenage brother, Tahir, are informed by their mother that their father has left them, a striking image that opens the film as we see him crossing the desert pausing only to gaze intensely into the lens of the camera. Spurred by this loss the two boys begin a journey of their own, and so begins a parable of haunting beauty, a visually stunning tale, powerfully realised in its studied simplicity and achingly thought provoking.
