Jack Ryan is a part time thief and full time slacker when local beauty Nancy takes an interest in his nefarious leanings. Nancy has the perfect scam, a simple plan to fleece her dodgy property magnate lover, but as Jack stumbles from one sticky situation to the next he begins to suspect that of all the stories available he knows very little of any. Adapted from an Elmore Leonard novel, directed by the man behind the excellent Grosse Point Blank, and with a cracking cast, The Big Bounce wilfully ignores its impressive credentials from start to finish. Not that funny, not that thrilling, and stylistically bankrupt, setting the film in Hawaii obviously proved to be rather…….distracting.
