Buddy is a wee baby when he shin shuffles into Santa's pressie bag. Only discovered when back at Santa's hang out, Buddy is adopted by the chief Elf and raised as one of them, but as Buddy becomes a man it is obvious to even him that ‘big' people are not ‘little' people. Deciding to return to the world of his birth and find his reluctant human dad, Buddy is horrified by the lack of Christmas spirit and makes it his mission to bring a bit of festive cheer to the cynical community of New York. Elf is a sweet natured family comedy, saved from being inedible for anyone over eight by the inspired implausibility of Will Ferrell as the big boy in green.
