When a brutal crime boss wants his wife dead he hires seasoned assassins Mikey and Rose, the unlikely pairing of Mirren and Gooding, but, when they find out the target is pregnant, the two hired guns discover a conscience and, instead of killing, adopt her and make a run for it, perhaps hoping to find some redemption in this act of selfless mercy. Shadowboxer is a pretty run of the mill action thriller, given a considerable chunk of curiosity value by the unlikely presence of Mirren.
