Six years ago NASA discovered the possibility of alien life within our solar system. A probe was launched to collect samples, but crashed upon re-entry over Central America. Soon after, huge new life forms began to appear, breeding at an expediential rate and reeking havoc. Today half of Mexico has been quarantined as an infected zone, surrounded by a gargantuan structure that dwarfs the Great Wall of China. A cynical photojournalist is persuaded to find his boss’s daughter, who is caught in the infected zone, but what the two find, while terrifying, is not what they expected. 'Monsters' is an absorbing film, as much a road trip about a burgeoning relationship as it is the beasties themselves.
