Duke has to catch the culprit for a payroll heist to prove his own innocence and shake off a pursuing army officer, a chase that takes him to Mexico, where he meets Chiquita, who is independently after the same con-man, and here they find action, adventure and romance. A suprisingly snappy and intelligent, if Hollywood generic, conspiracy thriller. Clive Owen plays the manically driven British interpol detective determined, along with Naomi Watts' New York DA, to nail the bosses of a powerful international bank that launders dirty money, deals arms and murders to cover its tracks. "Josephine Decker has created a new style of thriller that employs allegory, incorporates touches of David Lynch as well as Magritte -esque imagery. Decker's setting of a remote farm feels like a metaphor for what turns out to be hell. The raw and emotional (and yes, sometimes funny) dialog tells a story that can seem familiar at points but really is meant to keep you guessing and off balance.
