BRIDESHEAD REVISITED (2008) (2008)
Certification12 Our Rating
Narrated via the memoirs of Captain Charles Ryder while stationed at the Brideshead Castle during WWII, we follow his increasingly intense, confused relationship with the aristocratic Flyte family and in particular brother and sister Sebastian and Julia. An impressive if slightly pointless cinematic adaptation of Waugh's classic much better done in the epic television drama.

Visually flawless, perfectly paced, it's a masterpiece.

There's also a bit of effective sexual symbolism, in typical Hollywood style, which greatly enhances the syrupy romantic subplot. Excellent and with the added bonus of the late, great James Mason.
